This is the time of year when most of us evaluate our year and set resolutions for the year ahead, and failing to achieve them is nothing new. Because?
In business, goals should be SMART, an acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and time-bound. This time I want to focus on measuring our goals, because we tend to use the wrong metrics…. What is the metric of success? How many of you consider money as the measure of success?
Incorrect metrics are called vanity metrics, which represent something striking that can deceive us from what can actually help us achieve our goals, speaking from the true meaning of our goals.
So what metrics should we use to measure our goals, our life?
Hopeless romantics use metrics such as breaths, sighs, moments of love, etc. But most of these are passive, just consequences of what really matters… action. The action metrics They measure the setting in motion of our lives, the interaction with our outside world.
Why is interaction so important? Because life is a perpetual cycle of change. And we cannot remain stationary.
Finally our metrics should be based on how we move and how we interact towards our desires. A successful person for me is not a rich person, but one who is the master of his life and destiny. That you can make decisions and take responsibility and confront the consequences. It is not our place to judge the decisions, because after all the result is subjective, but as long as we do not stop swimming, we know that we are alive and that we are capable of setting a new course on our journey.
